Dinos and Cougars Top Visitors at Calgary Cup –
The Calgary teams dispatched the visiting Windsor Lancers and Regina Cougars in Calgary Cup action on Thursday night. On the first of 3 nights of play, the Dinos and Cougars both played solid games while taking a good look at their whole line-up.

Taking up where he left off last season, 5th year import guard, Thomas Cooper led all scorers with 24 points / 5 rebounds/ 4 steals as the Dinos shoot 49% to the Lancers’ 25%. Lars Schleuter scored 13 pts/6 rebs for Calgary, while Micqueel Martin notched 16 pts to pace the visitors. Box Score

The MRU Cougars clearly out-shot their Green cousins from Regina, with 46% from the floor vs 35% for U of R. 6-8 Brett Layton was a one- man wrecking crew for the home side, with a 20 point/10 rebound double, going 10/15 on FG. Glen Yang (14 pts/8 assists) and Derek Wolf, who was 4/8 from outside for 14 points were a sharp guard combo. Regina had Alex Igual with 11 points’ 10 boards, and 3 others in double figures. In Brandon, it was the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves on the top end of an 84-70 final. The ‘Wolves used a 23-11 advantage over the Bobcats in the 3rd quarter to pull away after just a 2 point lead at the half. No box score.
